The electrolytic extraction is carried out at a current density of 0.11-10.75 A/dm2 and the soln. is passed through the cathode and over the anode at such a rate that a complete reaction of the soln. contg. Cu is effected so that Cu is deposited on the cathode, which is then removed from the bath and treated in known manner. The Cu-free leaching soln. is recycled for leaching Cu ore. Pref. the coke used as the cathode is finely divided and is of particle size between -10 and +100 US standard mesh. The Cu is subsequently recovered without any chemical or physical pretreatment.
