The appts. provides the programme control for a multi-system circular knitter, partic. for the mfr. of stockings, such as a counter chain to operate the various components in a time sequence, together with a main programme carrier, such as a switching drum. The independent programme carrier contains the instructions for the individual systems for needle selection control to operate independently of the advance of the main programme carrier during the knitting cycle. The system provies a simple process to change the programme without affecting the operating speed of the knitter.
