The electromagnetic torque transmitting element and the damping system are arranged separately and are connected to a common shaft. The torque transmitting element consists of two magnet blocks with poles N.S. arranged on a circle. The magnets are mounted in a housing (1). A carrier disc (2) is mounted in the airgap between the magnet blocks. The carrier disc is mounted on a shaft shaft (4). The magnet block near the end of the housing has a short-circuit disc (6). The damping system is mounted at the other end of the housing assembly and is of similar construction as the torque transmitting element. A carrier disc (9) with a winding (10) is mounted in the airgap between the two magnet blocks. The carrier disc can rotate about the torque shaft. By synchronised adjustment of the switches for circuit resistances and/or damping spring torque and damping can be adjusted in the same ratio.
