Display method for dangerous movements of objects - is for marine or coastal navigation and employs rectangular coordinate display of radar echoes

The method uses radar direction finding or surveillance radar. Echoes received by the radar are displayed, in accordance with their direction and distance in rectangular coordinates on a picture screen of an additional display unit. Their lateral distances from the origin corresponds to the bearing, and vertical distance from a horizontal line to the distance. Echo signals are modified so that their vertical length is a measure for the object rate of approach. The system enables compass bearings to be deduced in such a way as to avoid a possible collision with the object revealed by the survey.
