The moulding form is used for making concrete joist frames, esp esp in new buildings where a strong wide-span structure is needed because the columns are a long way apart. Use is made of elongated parallel-epied formwork blocks (1), each incorporating an upwards open channel (2) which extends between the end faces (3). There are rectangular form panels (4), resting between the form blocks, or above them with their edges on the edges of the blocks. The blocks may consist of two elongated half-blocks, shaped and arranged together so as to leave a channel between them, and a spacer may also be used here to increase the joist width. A supplementary block may be added to each half, to increase joist height.
