The radio receiver unit and miniature cassette tape recorder can be fixed together or used separately. The receiver unit contains only the tuner, feeding the amplifier and loud-speaker of the tape recorder. The radio tuner unit (2) has a plastics case, which fits on the tape recorder (1) for reception on the medium wave band, a ferrite rod antenna (22) is incorporated which lies along the face of the plastic housing most remote from the tape recorder to reduce screening by its metallic components. The whole can be built as a miniature pocket radio/receiver set.
