Mineral and/or synthetic materials are bonded by ceramics and/or metals, where the particles are oriented before and/or during bonding. Metallised particles are pref. oriented and bonded to metal substrates by centrifugal and/or magnetic, and/or electromagnetic forces; and/or mechanical and/or electric and/or sonic and/or ultrasonic vibrations; or any combination of these effects. The metallised particles are pref. metallised diamond, bonded to a ferromagnetic metal, esp. steel, the particles being located in a basket which is permeable to liqs.; the basket and/or the substrate are rotated; and the particles are pref. deposited ont he substrate by electrodeposition. Used e.g. for the mfr. of diamond tools or sintered bodies for grinding or drilling; particles of corundum, carbides, nitrides, silicides or borides may also be bonded e.g. to a metal substrate.
