New monoazo dyes in the free acid form have the formula (I): (where Z is -SO2R1 or R1 is (substd) alkyl, R2 is H, (substd) alkyl or phenyl, R3 is (substd) sulphoalkyl or sulphophenylmethyl, R9 is H (substd)alkyl or aryl, or a heterocyclic residue, R10 is H or (substd) alkyl or forms with R9 and the N atom a 5-6 membered ring, and rings A and B may carry other non-ionic substits). Dyes (I) give rich, range to-Bordeaux red dyeings, with good fastness to light, on natural and synthetic fibres, esp. polyamides e.g. poly(epsilon-caprolactam) or adipic acid-hexamethylene diamine condensates.
