pAn iron base alloy is described which contains low amounts of alloying elements and is suitable for use as a transformer core material. The alloy is characterized by a (110) texture, and a primary recrystallized and normal grain growth microstructure. The process for obtaining the oriented structure is either a two stage or a three stage process in which the final cold reduction effects only a moderate reduction in cross-sectional area to finish gauge.
