The power station incorporates a gas turbine coupled to an alternator, and an electric motor coupled to a main compressor supplying a compressed air receiver, for use during peak-load periods. Before the compressed air reaches the gas turbine combustion chamber, its pressure is released in one or more air motors driving auxiliary compressors. These supply a quantity of air added to the air flow emerging from the air motor and delivered to the combustion chamber, and thus artificially increase the receiver energy capacity. The air flowing from receiver to motor can be reheated by the turbine exhaust, bringing it to a temp. level near to that of the air from the auxiliary compressor.
