A repair plug, for pneumatic tyres, consists of a partly or unvulcanised rubber mixt. and fibrous matl. of predominantly longitudinal orientation, esp. single fibres, bundles or strands of fibres, or a fibrous fabric layer. The fibres may be of cord reinforcing matl. Pref. shapes for the plug are cylindrical or tapering. The plug is used esp in a tyre repair kit in conjunction with conventional internal patches, the effect of the longitudinal fibres within the plug being to conduct away air trapped beneath the internal patch and thus considerably to reduce the tendency to bubble formation beneath the path.
