Heat exchanger is of the type employing a tube bundle to convey one heat transfer fluid through a second; the bundle comprises multiple rows of parallel tubes (I) and the tube ends in each row lie in a plane which is offset from the plane contg. the tube ends of the row on either side. Tube bundle heat exchangers are for use as air coolers, radiators, calorifiers etc. For highly efficient heat transfer very close tube spacing can be achieved and the offset ends of alternate rows permits adequate access for welding, brazing, flange-fixing or adhesion of the joint between a tube and, e.g. a collar on a header manifold.
