The apparatus is suitable for dry cleaners and similar establishments. A short length is pulled from the roll (5, 6, 12), a coat hanger is inserted on a support (4) and the material passed between guides (13). The garment is put on the hanger and the sheath pulled down the full length of the garment. A head (3) grips the material at the top and two blades simultaneously seal and separate the sheath from the roll. The head is pulled down manually to the bottom where the cover is sealed. The head has horizontally moving jaws with heating resistances for cutting and sealing.
