摘要
A lining which adheres to a surface fabric under the influence of heat, comprises a carrier, which is printed in a discontinuous layer of points, lines, stripes, or a pattern of a different nature, with soln. or dispersion contg. elastomers, etc., such as natural or synthetic rubber, synthetic resin, polyacrylic acid esters, etc., and humidifying agents such as isocyanates, acrylamides, etc. The pattern acts as a foundation for and retains the thermoplastic adhesive sprinkled on in fine powder form, and prevents the molten adhesive penetrating the carrier during bonding. There is no meltable adhesive in the foundation pattern and the bond between carrier and foundation and foundation and thermoplastic persists after the surfacing process. Linings using much less thermoplastic material are cheaper to produce. The laminates have a softer handle and there is no penetration of the adhesive through the coating or the carrier.
