The circuit breaker has a magnetic light arc quenching and at least two contacts, one having two shanks, through which current flows in opposite direction. One shank forms with the light arc and the second contact a current loop, while the second shank of the first contact is located outside a plane through the light arc current direction and the preferred extension of the first contact, as in 2237280. The contact system is arranged in a quenching chamber whose face wall in the direction of the light arc propagation and the side walls parallel to the light arc boundary plane are perforated, at least partly. The inner width of the quenching chamber is determined by the moving contact and has a restriction between the contacts and the face wall.
