Thread bridge, compensating tensional changes in a sutured incision - preventing inconvenience to patient and reducing risk of infection

A surgical thread bridge for securing a suture under tension comprises a flexible material capable of altering its form to compensate changes in tension, having two end sections which rest on the patient's skin and are joined by an arched section bridging the incision. The end sections are forked for the passage of the thread, and may have an upwards and outwards diverging tine providing an anchorage for the suture, raised some distance above the end sections. A thread may be attached already to one end of the bridge, and threaded through a needle, and a peg with a notch may be provided on the other end for tying off the thread. Device prevents the tearing out of the suture with risk of infection and additional scar formation, by regulating the tension on, and supporting the thread at its point of entry.
