Sprung temporary plug clamp for rivetting - locates parts prior to rivetting process esp. in aircraft construction

The clamp comprises a generally cylindrical body with an aperture at one end through which extend two elongate clamp members arranged one on either side of the tongue of a 'T' shaped spreading member. The elongate clamp members pass along the inside of the cylinder and are connected to a push knob at its other end. The knob is urged outwardly by a compression coil spring which runs inside the cylinder and which also bears on the base of the "T" shaped spreading member. Depression of the knob allows the two clamp members to be engaged in a hole in the workpiece and releasing the knob causes the spreader to spread the clamp members apart so that they are firmly retained in the workpiece. Several alternative embodiments are possible.
