Encapsulating and granulating glycoluril and ethylene diamine derivs. - with carboxylated long chain hydrocarbons, making them stable as activators in detergent and cleaning compsns.
Encapsulation and granulation of tetra-acetyl glycoluril (I) or tetra-acetyl ethylene diamine (II) using CO2H-contg. long chain cpds. (III) is carried out by contacting (I) or (II) in powder form with an aqs. dispn. of (III) in solid form in sufficient quantities to afford encapsulation/granulation with (II), which has a m.pt. of 40-100 degrees C, in a molten state, cooling (III) to well below its m.pt. and sepg. and drying the granules. (I) and (II) are used in detergent/cleaning compsns. (as activators and for which the process appears to be specific). The process may be carried out in one stage in one appts. and yields a prod. which has uniform granule size, only slight amts. of (II), which is stable in the presence of the other detergent/cleaning compsn. components and which easily disperses on dissoln. The coating is reasonably resistant to mech. abrasion.
