Fluid velocity detector using paddle and spring stem - has profiled movable support behind stem to set spring force

A liquid velocity detector consists of a paddle (4) pivoted about a spindle (6). For any liquid flow perpendicular to the paddle pressure is applied to the disc (4c) of the paddle and the spindle (6) rotates and produces a deflection of the needle of a meter. The paddle (6) is also fixed to a metal strip (9) which also deflects with the paddle. A block (10) with a set profile comes into contact with the metal strip (9) during deflection of the latter. The profile of the block (10) is chosen to give an appropriate law of deflection for the meter.
