The quay wall has a series of U section chambers open towards the body of water and becoming less deep towards the top, the chambers being closed at the tops and bottoms by blocks. Each chamber is formed by two stacks of T-section reinforced concrete blocks, with pairs of adjacent stacks being joined along adjacent edges in vertical planes. The leges of the T's project forwards to form the sides of pairs of chambers and have circular sections vertical openings through them. Reinforced concrete columns are passed through aligned openings in the stacks to secure the T-section blocks to themselves and to the top and bottom blocks.
