A base is formed by two plates (1, 2) having pivots for two side arms (5) which are pivotal in a horizontal plane. Each side arm carries a ski stick (15) held in a coiled spring element (16). The skier's feet fit on location pads (14) which can run independently along rails (11) which are spaced apart parallel and projecting rearwards from the base. Each foot pad is linked by a flexible cable (14) to an elastically loaded system which is adjustable for tension and each pad also has a limited angular sideways movement on its rail.
