1-(4-Chlorophenoxyisobutysyloxy)-2,3-dinicotinoyl-oxy-propane (I) is prepd. by esterifying a metal deriv. of formula (II) in dimethylformamide or formamide, with a halopropane of formula (III) (where M is alkali(ne earth) metal; n is a number which, when multiplied by the valency of M is 1; X is halogen). (I) has normolipaemic and hypocholesterolaemic activity used in human and veterinary medicine. High yields are obtd.
