摘要
Geothermal power is utilised by sinking a shaft (1) of 6 m diameter to a depth of 5000 m., where the temperature is 212 deg.C. The base (2) contains an evaporation chamber and the steam which it generates rises up the shaft (1) which has an insulated jacket (3) to the compression chamber where the high pressure steam is condensed to water at 212 deg.C. and then returns through the pipe (6) to drive the turbines (7) and then flows back to the evaporation chamber (2), to repeat the cycle. The pressure of the water supplied to the turbines (7) is increased by the head of water equal to the depth of the shaft (1). The system can produce 1000 MW of power from a volume of 2000 m3 of steam.
