Prepn. of a therapeutic natural compsn. contg. equal parts of ergocornine, ergocryptine and ergocristine and contg. the isomers ergocorninine, ergocryptinine and ergocristinine, is by saprophytic culture of strains of rye ergot of the Claviceps purpurea species, using a strain producing ergocornine, ergocryptine and their isomers and another strain producing ergocristine and its isomer, combined in a single fermentation phase.
