Composite carbon liner - for metal outer tube used to transport corrosive molten salts especially molten reactor fuel in salt form

Structured pipeline or duct for the transport of very corrosive fluids particularly at high temp. and esp. molten salts used in fused salt fuel nuclear reactors, comprises (a) a central pipe of carbon-based material, surrounded by a concentric annular liner consisting of a series of layers of composite carbon-based materials. (b) an external tubular metal sheath surrounding and protecting the annular lining. The innermost duct resists corrosion, withstands high temp. and is so structured as to be impermeable to the molten salt, while the annular lining acts as a composite insulating layer which reduces the temp. to a level below the solidification temp. of the salt and compatible with the material of the outer sheath.
