The plough has twin ploughshares (6, 7) one each side of a beam (5). This has a forked end (5a, 5b), fitted with two lugs (13, 14) seated in semicircular recesses (15, 16) on the tractor coupling (1). Pressure is applied by a gas spring, comprising pressurised nitrogen in a cylinder (21, 22), which is hinged (19) to a link (17). The other end of this link is hinged (18) to the coupling. The cylinder rod (23) contacts a screw (24), used to adjust the nitrogen pressure. When a ploughsare strikes an obstacle, it deflects to one side against the pressure of the gas spring. The link forms a pivot, together with one of the lugs, and the other lug can be completely dislodged from the recess.
