The clamping flange (1) for connecting the ends of pipes in high pressure hydraulic circuits is triangular and has rounded corners (35, 36, 37). It is separate from the collar (2) which is permanently fixed to the end of the pipe and which is provided with a small bearing flange and an O ring seal (8). The small flange fits in a recess in the fixing flange so that the face with the seal is proud of the fixing flange face. Assembly bolts (50, 60, 70) pass through holes in the fixing flange at each of the rounded corners.
