The clamp is used for the assembly of wall panels and shuttering. Shafts (1) joined onto one panel are inserted in U-shaped clips (2) carried by the other panel. A conical tapered cast steel key (3) is then hammered through holes provided in the flanges of the clip. The key is cast with longitudinal ribs forming ratchet teeth in cross-section and it has a square or hexagonal tang (5) at the thick end. When hammered in, the ratchet teeth cut complementary shaped teeth in the clip and the surface of the shaft, and the assembly may be secured by turning the key by means of the tang. The key may be replaced by auto-locking clips actuated by a cam on the shift. This variant can be used in an extended form for panel alignment fittings.
