The sail is fitted with reefing points at the required levels. The foot of the sail is fixed to the boom by means of slides fitting inside a groove on the top edge of the boom. The sliding member (13) fits over the outside of the boom. The slide is fitted with hooks (15), 16). The claw of the sail is hooked into these points when the sail is reefed. An outhaul bracket (14) is fixed to the outside edge of the slide. The outhaul may be fixed to the outer end of the boom. Additional cleats may be fitted to the sliding member of the boom to secure the outhaul.
