A strain gauge extensometer is used to measure loaded members subjected to extensions. It can be fitted easily to be measured. The extensometer has a rigid fixing bolt (26) in the part (18) to be measured. It also has a frame (22) onto which is fitted a flexible strip (12). A sect of strain gauges (14) is installed on the flexible strip (12), which is attached to a moving leg (10). The moving leg (10) has a ball recess (32) which fits over a spherical cap (32), which is part of a piece (28) built-in the members (18) to be measured.
