New antihypercholesterolaemic compsns, comprise a deconjugated bile acid or one of its salts and total dried pancreas in a wt. ratio 1:2 to 1:3. Bile acids include cholic, deoxycholic and chenodeoxycholic acids. Pref. is sodium deoxycholate. Pref. compsn. contain sodium deoxycholate and freeze-dried whole pancreas in a ratio of 1:2. The pancreas contains at least 40000 i.u./g of lipase. Typically, a tablet contg. 100 mg of sodium deoxycholate and 200 mg of freeze-dried whole pancreas, given 4 times daily for 6-8 weeks, reduced the blood cholesterol levels in 7 patients by 9,10,10,14,17,27 and 35%.
