Reinforced concrete pond with precast side walls - has supporting buttresses with reinforcing bars tied together by in-situ cast concrete

The pond is constructed from prefabricated concrete wall panels (3) and buttresses (10) which are subsequently cast into the concrete base (1) of the pond. The wall panels have horizontally projecting metal bars (5) which locate in grooves (13) in the face of the buttress, which also has projecting bars within the grooves. Both sets of bars are tied by linking bars (15). A rebate in the base of the buttress next to the wall panel contains a concrete sole (20) with reinforcement between the panel and the base slab. The back edge of the buttress is also reinforced to the base slab (19).
