Kitchen unit which folds up for transit - is open topped box with double doors side panels and floor folding externally onto rear wall panel

The furniture unit is esp. for use in kitchens and is of the type which is folded into a compact form for transport from the factory. In assemble form the unit is an open topped rectangular box with a base and double doors on the front face. Hinges are provided between panels to achieve the desired folding mechanism. The front plinth panel (2) folds back onto the floor panel (3). The two door panels (5) fold by outward rotation onto their side panels (4). The side panels (4) then rotate outwardly through 270deg. to fold onto the back of the rear wall panel (1). The floor panel (3) finally rotates in a similar fashion through 270deg. to fold onto the back of the rear wall (1). A door lintel (6) may be used to stabilize the erected unit.
