The direct current circuit intended particularly for electric traction motors fed from an alternating current source via a transformer and rectifiers, more than one motor may be fed from the same network and braking is enhanced by a feedback system from the particular motor being braked. The primary supply circuit is a high voltage three-phase system feeding a bridge rectifier, providing a two line direct current supply. One diagonal of the bridge output feeds a current level detector circuit via a transformer providing a blocking signal to an oscillator bridge feeding into the direct current lines via inductors as long as current is being drawn from the alternating current supply.
