Chain conveyor for travelling grate - has elongated holes through chain plates for chain flexibility

A travelling grate chain conveyor as in the main patent, has sprocket wheels at each end of the grate. Each chain is made up of double links carried either side of the teeth. The two teeth of each pair are held together by a pin (16) at each end of the pair, the pin also joining the plates of the next link to it. The pin holes (17) are elongated so that the effective length of a portion or of all the chain may be varied. This prevents the links from riding outwards on a shortening chain.
