The optical microscope for a phase object has an object illumination system and an object imaging lens system with a polarize and analyzer following the lens system. The angle between the polarization direction of the polarizer and the angle of the path of light in front of the object and a second element behind the lens system. The first and second element are divided into two areas. Each area of the second element is arranged in the parth of light diffracted and not diffracted by the object. The illumination system consists of a light source, a lens and a condenser system (C). The region between the two areas has a form profile; half-wave plates are used to form the two regions.
