The valve is used to control the flow of hot water in a vehicle heating system. It has a casing in which is pivotally mounted a disc, the pivot axis being transverse to the direction of flow of the water. Between the valve disc and an operating lever mounting is mounted a spring with one arm received in a blind hole in the mounting. The spring has a second arm which bears in a recess in one face of the disc, and is coiled around an operator for the disc. The spring acts on the disc which abuts a sealing ring in the duct in which the disc operates.
