The root cleaner consists of a rotating plate which is preferably a grille, with cylindrical dirt-removers forming between them annular passages which intercommunicate by openings. The soil-removers consist of a number of grilles in the passages. The grilles are preferably comb-shaped with parallel, curved bars. The bars are free at one end and fixed at the other end to a rod adjustable in position. The rod is preferably clamped into a socket attached to an axle in turn inserted into another socket forming part of the chassis. The bottom rotating plate is in the form of a circular grid divided into different areas by annular stips joined together by a series of bars. The roots are poured onto the central hub of the first passage bars, and are conveyed by centrifugal force round it into the second passage.
