A surgical drainage system by means of which the pressure within a hollow body or cavity to be drained can be controlled, has a collectro space which is in duct flow communication with the space to be drained. A primary regulator in the flow path is used to limit the maximum negative pressure existing within the collector section or space. A secondary regulator is provided in the flow system by means of which the maximum positive pressure within the collector chamber or space may be controlled.
