Radioactive particle detector for aerosol - analyses contents of aerosol deposited on replaceable filter

Detection of radioactive particles from an aerosol is performed using a sealed unit containing a filter face to face with a detector. Problems of cleaning and replacement of filter are overcome using a removable assembly in which the filter is retained and which is introduced into a fixed assembly. A detector (1) comprises a fixed assembly (3) and a removable assembly (5) which revolve around an axis (7). The fixed assembly houses a detector (11) in a chamber (9). Another housing (13) receives the removable assembly which comprises a hollow part (25) and ring (27) with a base (26) which carries a filter (31) with reinforcing grill (33). Gas entering a tube (65) passes through the filter where deposits are analysed by the detector in conjunction with an electronic circuit.
