The hand-held machine tool (e.g. drill) has a removable two-part handle (8a,8b) attached to the main plastic housing (4,5) carrying the motor and chuck. The tool's on/off switch is mounted on a plastic body inside the handle. The plastic body has a collar (6) with radially projecting flaps (7) which engage radial projections (11a,11b) on the insides of the two parts of the handle (8) and lock these two parts together. The contact surfaces of the flaps and projections are wedge shaped such that as they pass over one another they lock more tightly.
