The electrical transducer for determining mass and force can be used on a weighing machine and is unaffected by movement of the sub-structure on which it stands. It is therefore of use aboard vehicles such as ships. Two transducers are used, one producing an electrical output proportional to the gravitational force due to the mass under investigation, the second giving a signal proportional to the gravitational force of a known reference mass. Each transducer has a strain-gauge bridge whose outputs are amplified. The amplifier outputs are switched to the input of an a-d converter. The integrator output is gated by an AND-gate and counted. The counter output is processed in a subtraction circuit whose second input is taken from a tare-weight compensation unit.
