A steel band cutter and a counter bearing for the steel band cutter are located on a rigidly fixed machine frame with their surfaces facing each other formed by the cutting edges of the steel band knives or by the bearing surfaces of the counter bearing are differently curved in such a way that the steel band cutter and the counter bearing can only be brought into a line shaped contact with each other on the processing plane for the cut outs being processed.
