An installation for heating buildings used as dwellings or industrially makes use of a gas which is in contact alternately with a cold source and a hot source by means of inlet and outlet heat exchangers and a compressor which circulates the gas. The gas describes a thermodynamic cycle in a closed circuit. The exchangers connects points of the circuit situated at different heights in a natural or artificial gravity field.
