Training apparatus for rugby scrum - whose forwards push against spring loaded plate pivoting in frame to created unbalanced break conditions

The training apparatus simulates unbalanced break conditions in a rugby scrum. It comprises a plate (1) with head recesses for the forwards to push against. This has guide rods (5) sliding in sleeves (7) fixed to a subframe (9, 10, 11) and having shock absorber springs (14, 16) each side. The subframe is carried on a pivot (20) fitting across the main frame (23), which is fixed in position. It is normally balanced horizontally by extension springs (22) between the frames and by means of spring loaded chains (25, 27); the pushing movement is resisted by extension springs (12, 13). The spring forces create imbalance about the pivot, these forces being adjustable for teaching control.
