Connection of thin walled tube to end fittings - using internal and external conical shells to grip tube with internal shell hydraulically or manually driven through fitting (OE 15.9.77)

Very thin walled steel, aluminium or plastic tubes are attached to end fittings by a connection which remains perfectly sealed even under the effects of different thermal coefficients of expansion of the materials. A slightly conical external steel shell (8) is fixed to the attachment end (3) and has the same internal diameter as the external diameter of the tube (1). The end of the latter has an external ring of glue or sealing compound (7) and is inserted in the conical shell. To complete the joint a second slightly conical steel shell (9) is inserted through the end fitting and driven in hydraulically or manually, so that the tube is securely gripped between the two shells.
