The pivot joint is for use between two vertical panels, each panel having first and second faces and an end face, so that separate ridges are formed between the end face and each main one. Connectors of first and second types are mounted alternatively one above the other. Each connector is a thin vertical rectangular plate (18) of width equal to that of the panel and face (12). Flexible devices keep each plate edge in contact with one of the panel ridges while allowing it to pivot on the other end. With the first type of connector, the first plate edge is kept in contact with the first ridge of the first panel (16) and the second ridge of the second one (14). The first plate edge of the second type of connector is kept in contact with the first ridge of the second panel and the second ridge of the first.
