Triggered spark gap intended to pass about ten joules through its main gap at about 20 kVolts and to provide a low jitter and min. breakdown time using a trigger electrode working at 1 kV and 1 mJ. The main gap consists of two cylindrical electrodes (38, 40) of molybdenum or a tungsten - copper alloy. the overall volume being filled with dry nitrogen at one atmosphere. The trigger electrodes (44, 46) consist of a twisted pair of insulated wires cut across to form a tracking length between the cut surfaces which lie at the level of the inner surface of a hole (39) cut in one of the major electrodes (38).
