Tip for stubble plough blade - is square section manganese steel forged with curve in direction of plane across two opposite corners

The tip (1) is fitted to a stubble plough blade and is made from square section high tensile manganese steel. It tapers to a point at the working end (1A), the other end having a reduced section and a flat bearing surface (5) for bolting (7) to the tip holder (3). Recesses (9) enable the bolt heads to be protected within the tip body. The tip is forged to a curve, this being done in the direction of the plane joining across two opposite corners of the section. This gives resistance and strength to the tip but also allows it to flex when in use.
