The vibrating device consists of a vibration generator (7) which is powered by a variable speed motor (8) so that the vibration regime may be varied to correspond with the nature or slip characteristics of the material stored in the silo. The vibration generator is suspended on the central axis of the silo by a system of cable pairs (9) which are fixed to the top of the silo (14) and follow the line of the walls, the change in direction at the bottom cone being achieved by pulleys (12) held on supports (13) attached to the silo walls. The cables also serve to transmit the vibrations to the mass of the silo contents .
